Dinner with the best sunset view
Wow. I didn’t realize had such a beautiful skyline! We sat right by the window ($24 minimum for a seat with a view).
We did the three-course prix-fix meal for dinner and everything was outstanding. The beet salad with Burrata cheese and aged balsamic- so goof!
For entrees, I got the pan-seared scallops that came with a big serving of braised cannellini beans and an arugula pesto which was different than any pesto I’ve had. My friend got the braised short ribs with whipped potatoes and grilled asparagus, which was the perfect summer dish.
Of course, dessert was amazing too. We got blueberry upside down cake and caramel crème brulee. All of these dishes were paired with the perfect wines and drinks. It was $78 per person with drinks, which was completely worth it, especially considering our view. Go at sunset!
Ultimate Guide to the Best Dubai Rooftop Bars Winter 2020-21
In a city full of skyscrapers, it’s no surprise that there is a happening rooftop bar scene in Dubai. And the good news is, they are spread all over the city for plenty of different views from the stunning Downtown fountains and Burj Khalifa, through to the chic Dubai Marina, and fabulous ocean sunset views over the Arabian Gulf.
Whether you simply want to sip your cocktail or mocktail at sunset, romance your loved one with an unforgettable view, or you’re looking for a taste of Dubai’s nightlife and party scene, there’s a Dubai rooftop perfect for you!
Note, although most of Dubai’s rooftop bars and terraces are attached to hotels due to licensing laws, you do not need to be a paying guest to enjoy drinks or dining (there will be cover charges though to use any pools and other facilities). We have included links to the attached hotel as well in case you wanted to base yourself close by (and enjoy these fabulous views from your room too!)
Public Beaches in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach
From fall through spring, the sun sets over the Gulf of Mexico. During that time there really are no bad places for a romantic sunset stroll along our beaches. In Gulf Shores, the Gulf State Park beach offers expansive sunset views and a long fishing pier where you can walk over the Gulf as the sun slips beneath the sky.
If you’re in Orange Beach, Orange Beach Waterfront Park is the place to go for a long stroll with panoramic views. You’ll find parking and a 400-foot pier jutting into Wolf Bay. The park also has a small stretch of beach that makes it easy to find a spot to get away where you can enjoy a private view (and maybe a sunset smooch).
While Trader Vic's at the Anantara Bangkok Riverside is a bit far down the river on the Thonburi side of the city, it certainly has a great waterfront setting and is one of the better riverside dining options in town. There's an indoor seating area, but the best spot is on the waterfront terrace or garden where there are romantic tables and comfy chairs set up to enjoy the passing barge traffic and river breezes. Menu standouts include the Ahi Poke sashimi tuna with avocado and chill-soy dressing, and the Jamaican Jerk spring chicken with sweet potato mash, chili asparagus, sherry ginger jus. There are plenty of other Pacific Rim specialties available, and like other worldwide Trader Vic's, there are signature Mai Tai cocktails at the bar.
Recommended for Waterfront Dining because: For Pacific Rim fare with superb river views, Trader Vic's is a great choice.
Dave's expert tip: The best way to get here is via the Anantara's free river boat shuttle which leaves from the Saphan Taksin Pier every 20-30 minutes or so.

15 Best Stargazing Apps for iPhones and Androids to Try Now
These night sky apps are like a planetarium in your pocket (sometimes for free).
Whether the Super Pink Moon in April kickstarted your love of astronomy, or you want to be prepared by the time the Perseids meteor shower rolls around in during warmer weather, you should start with checking these best stargazing apps. Most of the time, all you have to do is point them at the night sky, and they'll demystify what's in front of you, be it stars, planets, constellations, or man-made objects like satellites or the International Space Station. Many of them can even alert you to the upcoming celestial events, so you'll never miss another Super Moon again. How does it work? Most of them have some kind of augmented-reality feature, where they can locate where you are automatically and pull up what the star map should look like above you. That means you don't need a planetarium docent's knowledge of hundreds and thousands of stars to find the one you're looking for. Heck, you don't even need a telescope. You just have to fire up the app and then look like some kind of astronomical genius. Next time you find yourself on a nighttime walk, or looking for a way to entertain the kids in the backyard after the sunset, pull out one of these apps and prepare to be amazed. Best of all: Many are free! The apps below are free to install unless otherwise note (though in-app purchases may be available).
